When job seekers search for affordable resume help, one of the first services they often encounter is Indeed’s resume writing service. With the popularity of the Indeed job board, it’s easy to assume their resume writing service is just as effective. But how good is it really? And how does it compare to a professional, personalized resume writing experience?
Here’s what you need to know before hiring an Indeed resume writer—and what to consider if you want to improve your chances of landing interviews.
What Is Indeed’s Resume Writing Service?
Indeed offers job seekers a paid resume writing service where a professional writer creates or revises a resume based on your career history and goals. The process typically includes:
-
Uploading your existing resume or filling out a questionnaire
-
Matching with a resume writer
-
Receiving a first draft within a few days
-
One or two rounds of edits
Indeed’s pricing is relatively affordable, making it an attractive option for job seekers on a budget.
Pros of Using an Indeed Resume Writer
✅ Low-Cost Option: Compared to executive resume services or boutique career firms, Indeed is more affordable, with prices typically ranging from $89 to $189.
✅ Speedy Turnaround: Many users receive a completed draft in as little as 3–5 business days.
✅ Convenient Process: If you already use Indeed to search for jobs, having your resume professionally edited within the same platform feels seamless.
Common Complaints and Limitations
While Indeed resume writers work for a well-known platform, the service may not be ideal for everyone. Here are a few drawbacks noted by users:
🚫 Generic Templates: Some job seekers report receiving resumes that use overly general language or lack personalization for specific industries.
🚫 Limited Industry Expertise: Because writers are matched based on availability rather than niche experience, you might not get someone familiar with your target job market.
🚫 Few Revisions: You’re often limited to one or two rounds of edits, which may not be enough for career changers or professionals targeting high-level roles.
🚫 No Cover Letter or LinkedIn Help: Unlike many dedicated resume firms, Indeed’s service focuses only on the resume, with no option for bundled packages.
Who Might Benefit from an Indeed Resume Writer?
-
Entry-level job seekers looking for a basic resume cleanup
-
Individuals with a simple work history who need quick formatting help
-
People who plan to tailor their resume themselves for each job
However, if you’re targeting roles that require strategy, leadership, or technical expertise, or if you’re navigating a career change, you may need a deeper level of support.
