Training Manager Job Description

SUMMARY:

The Training Manager is the person who is responsible for overseeing the training department, which includes all of the company’s employees who receive training. The manager must make sure that these employees are being trained effectively and consistently with the company’s goals, and that they are being adequately supported by their supervisors.

The manager will also be responsible for making sure that each employee has been properly certified in any necessary skills or knowledge before beginning a new job. The manager may also be responsible for creating new employee-training programs as necessary, though this task may be outsourced to a separate department.

FUNCTIONAL DUTIES:

  • Developing and implementing an annual training program for employees, which includes identifying and delivering relevant training content and resources; developing a plan for new employee orientation; scheduling and conducting all necessary training sessions.
  • Training employees in their jobs, including ensuring that they are equipped with the tools to perform their duties safely and efficiently.
  • Providing ongoing coaching and mentoring to managers and supervisors on how to train their teams effectively, as well as offering support in developing robust development plans for employees.
  • Creating job aids and other materials that will help customers learn how to use products effectively or install them properly.
  • Developing training plans for employees based on their job descriptions.
  • Working closely with management to ensure that training needs are met.
  • Develop, implement, and manage a continuing education program for current employees.
  • Design and conduct training seminars or workshops for customers or other groups as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a training, development, or instructional design.
  • Must be flexible and work in a fast paced environment.
  • Able to work without direction.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Google Docs, Zoom, training programs, etc.
