SUMMARY:
The Transportation Manager is in charge of all aspects of the company’s transportation operations, including planning and tracking shipments, managing the fleet, and ensuring that goods reach their destinations safely. This position requires excellent organizational skills, as well as an ability to manage multiple projects at once, as well as deal with tight deadlines. The transportation manager may also need to hire new employees or train existing ones in order to meet their responsibilities.

FUNCTIONAL DUTIES:
- Planning schedules and routes for daily pickups, deliveries and other transportation operations.
- Supervising drivers who work on the company’s fleet.
- Ensuring that drivers are properly trained and qualified to drive your company’s vehicles.
- Reviewing driver performance regularly to ensure that they are meeting company standards for safety, efficiency and customer service.
- Providing technical support for vehicle maintenance and repairs.
- Creating and implementing plans for the company’s transportation needs, including routes and modes of transportation.
- Managing the company’s fleet of vehicles, including maintenance, insurance, and fuel costs.
- Finding new ways to reduce fuel costs and improve efficiency in order to keep costs down for the company.
- Scheduling drivers’ shifts so that they are able to cover all routes on time.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or transportation management.
- Five to ten years of experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated ability to manage teams, coordinate logistics, and manage budgets.
- Must have experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Must have strong communication skills and be able to communicate in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions on your own without being constantly supervised.
- Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills (verbal and written).
