The Senior Actuarial Analyst is a key member of the actuarial team, responsible for conducting complex analyses and providing critical insights that inform decision-making related to insurance products, financial risk, and pricing strategies. FUNCTIONAL DUTIES:

  • Data Analysis and Modeling:
    • Collect and analyze large datasets to assess risk, pricing, and profitability of insurance products.
    • Develop and maintain actuarial models and tools using statistical software and actuarial software packages.
    • Perform regression analysis, trend analysis, and predictive modeling.
  • Pricing and Rate Making:
    • Evaluate and recommend pricing structures for insurance products.
    • Calculate premium rates based on actuarial principles and underwriting guidelines.
    • Monitor and adjust rates to maintain profitability and competitiveness.
  • Reserving and Financial Reporting:
    • Estimate and reserve for insurance claims and liabilities.
    • Prepare and review financial reports, including statement of financial condition and income statements.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
    • Assess and analyze the financial impact of potential risks and changes in the insurance market.
    • Develop risk mitigation strategies and recommendations.
    • Monitor the financial health of the company and make recommendations to senior management.
  • Product Development:
    • Collaborate with product development teams to design and price new insurance products.
    • Conduct feasibility studies and provide actuarial input during product design phases.

  • Mentoring and Leadership:
    • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior actuarial analysts.
    • Assist in training and development of less experienced team members.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert within the actuarial department.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, actuarial science, statistics, or a related field (Master’s degree or actuarial credentials preferred).
  2. Associate or Fellow of a recognized actuarial organization (e.g., SOA, CAS).
  3. Several years of actuarial experience in the insurance industry.
  4. Proficiency in actuarial modeling software (e.g., R, SAS, Python) and industry-specific software (e.g., Prophet).
  5. Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including knowledge of statistical techniques.
  6. Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  7. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools.
  8. Understanding of insurance regulations and compliance requirements.
  9. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  10. Strong project management and organizational skills.
  11. Ability to work collaboratively and lead cross-functional teams.
