American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)

The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) is a professional organization that represents more than 103,000 health information management professionals in the United States. AHIMA is the premier association for HIM professionals, and its mission is to empower healthcare professionals to lead health information management and informatics through innovation, education, and advocacy.

AHIMA offers a wide range of resources, including educational programs, publications, and certification exams. AHIMA’s certification programs include the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Certified Coding Associate (CCA), and Certified Coding Specialist (CCS). These certifications are highly valued in the HIM industry and are recognized by employers across the country.

Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS)

The Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) is a global, non-profit organization that focuses on the use of information technology in healthcare. HIMSS represents more than 100,000 individual members, 480 corporate members, and 800 non-profit organizations.

HIMSS provides a variety of resources, including educational programs, conferences, publications, and advocacy initiatives. HIMSS also offers certification programs, including the Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS) and Certified Associate in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CAHIMS).

Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI)

The Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI) is a professional organization that represents healthcare documentation professionals, including medical transcriptionists, speech recognition editors, and healthcare documentation specialists. AHDI’s mission is to advance healthcare documentation through education, advocacy, and collaboration.

AHDI offers a variety of resources, including educational programs, certification exams, and a job board. AHDI’s certification programs include the Registered Healthcare Documentation Specialist (RHDS) and the Certified Healthcare Documentation Specialist (CHDS).

National Association for Health Data Organizations (NAHDO)

The National Association for Health Data Organizations (NAHDO) is a non-profit organization that focuses on the collection, analysis, and dissemination of health data. NAHDO represents state and regional health data organizations, as well as other stakeholders in the health data industry.

NAHDO provides a variety of resources, including educational programs, publications, and advocacy initiatives. NAHDO’s members have access to a wide range of health data, including hospital discharge data, ambulatory care data, and population health data.

American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)

The American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) is a professional organization that represents medical coders and billers. AAPC’s mission is to provide education, certification, and advocacy for medical coders and billers.

AAPC offers a variety of resources, including educational programs, certification exams, and a job board. AAPC’s certification programs include the Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), and Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC).
