SUMMARY:

A Preschool Teacher is a nurturing and dedicated educator responsible for creating a safe and stimulating learning environment for young children. FUNCTIONAL DUTIES:

  1. Curriculum Development:
    • Design and plan age-appropriate curriculum and lesson plans based on early childhood development principles.
    • Create engaging and educational activities that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
  2. Instruction and Interaction:
    • Provide direct instruction to preschool-aged children, fostering language, literacy, and numeracy skills.
    • Interact with students through play, exploration, and hands-on learning activities.
  3. Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
    • Assess children’s developmental progress and document their achievements.
    • Conduct regular observations and maintain records to share with parents and guardians.
  4. Classroom Management:
    • Maintain a safe and well-organized classroom environment that encourages exploration and creativity.
    • Manage classroom behavior and address discipline issues with patience and understanding.
  5. Parent and Guardian Communication:
    • Establish positive and open communication with parents and guardians, providing updates on children’s development and sharing insights.
    • Organize parent-teacher meetings and conferences as needed.
  6. Safety and Well-Being:
    • Ensure the safety and well-being of students by adhering to health and safety regulations and providing first aid as necessary.

  7. Professional Development:

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development, or a related field (Associate’s degree may be acceptable for some positions).
  • Teaching certification in early childhood education or relevant licensure, where required by state regulations.
  • Proven experience in teaching preschool-aged children.
  • Strong understanding of child development principles and age-appropriate teaching methods.
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing attitude.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Creativity and the ability to create engaging and interactive learning experiences.
  • Classroom management skills and the ability to maintain a positive learning environment.
  • First Aid and CPR certification may be required.
